Two Expansions Announced for The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game

Free League Publishing today announced the upcoming launch of two new expansions for The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying game: Ruins of Eriador and Tales From Eriador.

These expansions adapt Tales From the Lone-Lands and Ruins of the Lost Realm from the award-winning second edition of The One Ring™ roleplaying game. Drawing from the rich lore of J.R.R. Tolkien’s works, they allow players to delve further into the mysteries of Middle-earth.

Pre-Order Begins

Starting today, fans can pre-order Tales From the Lone-Lands, Ruins of Eriador, and Tales From Eriador from the Free League webshop. Those who pre-order will be granted immediate access to the PDFs of these supplements, months ahead of the official release slated for fall.

Tales From Eriador

This expansion includes both Tales From the Lone-Lands and its 5E adaptation, Tales From Eriador. It offers players a series of intriguing adventures that gradually reveal a mounting threat to Middle-earth.

Adventures in this expansion include “A Troll-Hole, If Ever There Was One” and “Kings of Little Kingdoms,” which although relatively self-contained, hint at a growing danger. “Messing About In Boats” offers an unexpected twist for one member of the Company, while “Not To Strike Without Need” and “Wonder of the Northern World” explore the insidious infiltration of the Enemy’s spies. Lastly, “The Quest of Amon Guruthos” challenges heroes to combat an ancient evil. All adventures are set in the year 2965.

Ruins of Eriador

The Ruins of Eriador expansion adapts the previously published Ruins of the Lost Realm, offering players new narrative elements and exciting locations to explore.

Chapter 1, “Fog Over Eriador,” provides a detailed description of the regions that once formed part of the kingdom of Arnor, with a focus on the city of Tharbad. Chapter 2, “A Gathering Storm,” equips the Loremaster with narrative elements designed to build a possible future for Eriador, including many looming threats, Loremaster characters, and their agendas. Finally, Chapter 3, “Landmarks,” introduces twelve new sites of interest. These locations depict both ‘historical’ sites mentioned in The Lord of the Rings™ or The Hobbit™, and others that have been specifically created for the game. The adventures in this expansion also take place around the year 2965.

These upcoming expansions are set to immerse players even more deeply in the magical world of Middle-earth, further enriching their Lord of the Rings™ roleplaying experience.
