Full details revealed for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet 2023 Global Challenge III Online Competition, registration is now open and the competition will take place from May 4 at 5 p.m. PDT to May 7 at 4:59 p.m. PDT

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available for Nintendo Switch. Read on below to learn more:

Take on other Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet players to earn rewards in this year’s third Global Challenge.

Get ready to earn Championship Points, receive an in-game Ultra Ball Canvas Backpack accessory, and test your skills against Trainers from around the world in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games! The 2023 Global Challenge III will take place from Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. Sign-ups have already begun and will remain open until the start of the competition period.

This competition will follow Regulation Set C and is comprised of Double Battles using Pokémon from the Paldea Pokédex (excluding Koraidon and Miraidon).

To register for the competition, follow these steps:

  1. Launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
  2. Open the X menu.
  3. Select Poké Portal.
  4. Select Battle Stadium.
  5. Select Online Competitions.
  6. Under Official Competitions, select Search for a competition.

Be aware that you’ll need to lock your Battle Team when registering for the competition. You will not be able to make changes to your Battle Team or use them in battles other than competition matches until the event ends.

After the event ends and results are announced, qualifying players who finish three or more matches with a win or loss during the event period will be eligible for rewards. To view your rankings, follow these steps:

  1. After the competition has ended, launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
  2. Open the X menu.
  3. Select Poké Portal.
  4. Select Battle Stadium.
  5. Select Online Competitions.
  6. Select Previous results.

In order to earn Championship Points for participating in this event, Trainers will have to link their Pokémon Trainer Club account to their Nintendo Account. To link your Pokémon Trainer Club account to your Nintendo Account, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you are logged in to your Nintendo Account at Nintendo.com.
  2. Log in to your Pokémon Trainer Club account at Pokemon.com.
  3. Select Nintendo Account Link from the menu on the left.
  4. Carefully read the information displayed and then select Link to Nintendo Account. This will redirect you to the Nintendo Account information usage page.
  5. Carefully read the information displayed and then select I agree on Nintendo.com.
  6. A message will display on Pokemon.com that says “Congratulations! You are all set.” This confirms that your Pokémon Trainer Club account and Nintendo Account are linked.

Additionally, all competitors who wish to earn Championship Points towards the VGC Championship Series must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account, have a Play! Pokémon Player ID, and accept the Play! Pokémon Terms of Use—so be sure to sign up prior to the completion of the tournament.
