Marvel to Commemorate 84 Years of Comics with ‘Marvel Age’ #1000

Marvel Comics will celebrate its 84th year as a comics publisher in August with Marvel Age #1000, a giant-sized commemorative issue with stories about classic Marvel characters by well known creators.

The issue will also include a Marvel Comics Value Stamp for the first time in many years.

Marvel Age #1000 will go on sale on August 30, 2023, with a cover by Gary Frank. It will include stories about

  • The Marvel Universe in a back yard, by J. Michael Straczynski and Kaare Andrews
  • Captain Marvel by Dan Slott and Michael Allred
  • Cyclops and Jean Grey by Rainbow Rowell and Marguerite Sauvage
  • The original Human Torch by Mark Waid and Alessandro Cappuccio
  • The Silver Surfer and Mephisto by Steve McNiven
  • Thor by Jason Aaron and Pepe Larraz
  • Spider-man’s friends and family by Ryan Stegman
  • Daredevil by Armando Iannucci and Adam Kubert

Marvel Age was originally a promotional magazine that included previews of upcoming comics as well as interviews and features.  Marvel will publish an omnibus in August 2023 as well (see “‘Marvel Age Omnibus’ Goes Back to the 1980s”).
