Dream Pod 9, the gaming company behind the popular Heavy Gear franchise, has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of the Heavy Gear Roleplaying Game Fourth Edition. The campaign, which has already raised CA$38,000 from its initial goal of CA$40,000, will run until May 15th.
The Heavy Gear Roleplaying Game Fourth Edition is a new version of the popular tabletop RPG that has been unavailable for over 15 years. The new edition will be compatible with the older 1st and 2nd editions, allowing fans of the franchise to continue playing with their existing materials.
The Kickstarter campaign is aimed at raising funds for new artwork and paying for the work done so far. The new rulebook will include everything players and gamemasters need to play the game, including a detailed history of the Heavy Gear world, core game rules, character creation, and a massive library of gears, vehicles, and equipment to use in the game.
The new edition of the game will focus heavily on roleplaying and storytelling, while still retaining the game’s crunchy combat systems. The Silhouette d6 system has been updated, allowing for more customization and flexibility. The new edition will also allow players to customize not only their character but their gear.
Backers of the campaign can choose from a variety of reward levels, including a digital copy of the rulebook, physical soft and hardcover books, and adventure modules. The adventure modules will cover major events in the Heavy Gear Universe, including St. Vincent’s War and the first Black Talon operation on Caprice.
The new edition of the game will also include conversion rules for Heavy Gear Blitz players, allowing them to take their RPG characters into Blitz. Each adventure module will also include playable Blitz versions of the major scenarios.
Overall, the Heavy Gear Roleplaying Game Fourth Edition promises to be an exciting new addition to the Heavy Gear franchise. With over three weeks left to go in the Kickstarter campaign, there’s still plenty of time for fans of the franchise to get involved and help bring this new edition to life.
