For the first time, a DC title has made the chart of the top 20 Kids Graphic Novels in the book channel, based on Circana (formerly NPD) BookScan data for March 2023 (2/26/23 – 4/1/23) provided to ICv2.
Teen Titans: Robin is the latest of Kami Garcia’s Teen Titans graphic novels (see “DC Schedules Three YA Titles for September“). While DC’s original graphic novels have sold well in the aggregate (see “Top Kids Graphic Novel Franchises – Fall 2021“), this is the first time that an individual title has made the Top 20.
Topping the March chart, unsurprisingly, is the eleventh Dog Man book, Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea, which was released on March 28. That bumped the newest Cat Kid book to second place and the newest Baby-Sitters Club to third. Overall, there are 13 Dav Pilkey titles on the chart, 11 Dog Man and 2 Cat Kid.
A new volume of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Fazbear Frights came out in March, so there are two on the list. The other YA title that has been on the chart, Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper, went from four volumes in January to one in February to none in March, but it will be back; another volume has been announced for December (see “‘Heartstopper’ Update“).
Investigators: Agents of S.U.I.T. makes the top 20 for the second month in a row, but Sweet Valley Twins has slipped off after four months on the chart.
