Slime your way to the top as this Dragon-type Defender that emphasizes Gooey disruption.
Hunker down and defend your teammates with Goodra in Pokémon UNITE! Goodra begins each match as Goomy before evolving into Sliggoo and finally Goodra. This Dragon-type Defender from the Kalos region excels at spreading slime and slowing down the opposition with its Gooey Ability, boosted attacks, and upgraded moves. You can obtain Goodra for 12,000 Aeos coins or 575 Aeos gems at the Unite Battle Committee shop. Goodra will only be obtainable with Aeos gems for the first seven days of its release.
Read on to learn more about everything this Pokémon has to offer and to pick up a few tips before spreading some quality slime with Goodra on Aeos Island.
Goodra’s Gooey Ability slows down the enemy while also healing Goodra. When Goodra is hit by an attack, there is a set chance it will spread slime around itself. The slime deals damage to opposing Pokémon and applies a Gooey slowing effect to them for a short time. The Gooey slowing effect decreases movement speed and can stack up to four times per opposing Pokémon. When Goodra enters tall grass, it continually recovers a set amount of HP until it either attacks or leaves the tall grass. This HP recovery effect goes into cooldown after it’s triggered.
Goodra’s basic attack becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, applying a Gooey slowing effect to opposing Pokémon it hits. Boosted attacks launch slime at distant opposing Pokémon and deal increased damage to nearby opposing Pokémon.
Bubble
Goomy covers itself in a bubble, granting it a shield for a short time. When the shield’s effect duration ends or if Bubble is used again, the bubble shield pops, dealing damage to nearby opposing Pokémon and decreasing their movement speed.
Tackle
Goomy charges at an opposing Pokémon, dealing damage and throwing it. If Tackle hits, Goomy bounces back a short distance.
Muddy Water
Sliggoo splashes muddy water around itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and applying an effect to them that decreases the amount of damage they deal for a short time. If Sliggoo deals damage to opposing Pokémon with this move, Sliggoo’s Defense and Sp. Def are increased for a short time. This effect can stack up to four times. Muddy Water can be upgraded to further increase Sliggoo’s Defense and Sp. Def when Muddy Water deals damage to opposing Pokémon.
Dragon Pulse
Sliggoo unleashes a shock wave in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. If the center of the shock wave hits opposing Pokémon, it deals increased damage to them and restores Sliggoo’s HP. HP is also restored when Dragon Pulse deals damage to opposing Pokémon that have a Gooey slowing effect applied to them. Dragon Pulse can be upgraded to restore more HP if the center of the shock wave hits opposing Pokémon that have a Gooey slowing effect applied to them.
Power Whip
Goodra lashes out with its horns in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and decreasing their movement speed. If Power Whip hits distant opposing Pokémon, those Pokémon are pulled toward Goodra. Power Whip can be upgraded to apply a Gooey slowing effect when Power Whip hits.
Acid Spray
Goodra spits acidic fluid at an opposing Pokémon, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in an area of effect centered on the Pokémon it hits and decreasing their movement speed. If Acid Spray is used again, Goodra charges in the designated direction and deals damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. If this charge hits an opposing Pokémon that has been marked by acidic fluid, that Pokémon is thrown, and damage is also dealt to nearby opposing Pokémon. Acid Spray can be upgraded to apply a Gooey slowing effect to opposing Pokémon that receive damage from either the acidic fluid or the charge.
Goodra causes rain to fall around itself, gradually restoring its HP. While Right as Rain is active, all of Goodra’s basic attacks become boosted attacks.
Disruption is the name of the game for Goodra, making it one of the most distinct Defenders in Pokémon UNITE. Goodra can keep Melee Pokémon at bay with constant slowdowns and damage over time by randomly spreading slime with its Gooey Ability or launching it via boosted attacks. Power Whip and Acid Spray are also exceptional at slowing down key melee targets and protecting Attackers.
Buzzwole can put on the pressure and lock down key targets with Smack Down, Lunge, and Superpower, but its best work requires close range. Goodra makes this exceptionally difficult with both its Gooey Ability and Power Whip. Buzzwole’s lack of movement options already makes it difficult for the Ultra Beast to chase down stray Attackers, but Goodra makes it even more challenging with constant slowing hindrances, which give its teammates the opportunity to retaliate from a safe distance. When playing as Buzzwole, it’s probably best to avoid taking on Goodra without additional support from Ranged Attackers.
Goodra can slow down just about any Pokémon in melee range, but Ranged Attackers generally have both the range and speed to avoid being slowed in the first place. Decidueye is particularly strong against Goodra when using the move Spirit Shackle, which deals high damage at exceptionally long range. Decidueye’s Shadow Sneak can also reduce Goodra’s Defense and make it easier for both it and its allies to take down the beefy Dragon-type Pokémon.
