Renegade Game Studios announced a new version of Acquire, classic economic investment game by Sid Sackson, which will hit retail in August 2023.
Acquire was first released in 1964 through the 3M games division, which was later sold to Avalon Hill in 1976. In this game, players take on the other business magnates at the table in a game where they manipulate construction projects and capitalize on mergers. Players buy, sell, and trade stocks in order to make the most of their investments in a race to gain the most wealth.
The new edition of this game features several changes, including a 9 by 12 space gridded plastic board with space designations printed on the board. There are also upgrades to the font on the tiles to improve legibility, and the game can be played in two modes, Classic or Tycoon. The game box comes with a game board, 108 Building tiles, 7 HQ buildings, 11 HQ Banners, 6 stockholder info cards, a Merger player aid, 175 Stock cards, 155 paper money bills, a Stock Market tray, and a rulebook. The game is for two to six players, ages 12 and up, plays in 90 minutes, and retails for $50.00.
Renegade Game Studios also announced a new edition of Diplomacy, the classic game of international intrigue and treachery (see “‘Diplomacy’“).
