Wizards of the Coast Unveils Product Line Deets for ‘Magic: The Gathering – Commander Masters’

Wizards of the Coast revealed product line details for Magic: The Gathering – Commander Masters, which will hit stores on August 4, 2023.

This product was announced back on February 21, 2023 (see “‘Magic: The Gathering – Commander Masters’“). Commander Masters features a curated selection of cards specifically for the Commander format and is going to be loaded with desirable reprints. Unlike previous Masters sets, this one will have both Set Boosters and Commander Decks added to its product line.

One of the most interesting parts of this product line are the Draft Boosters, which are tailored for multiplayer draft sessions. Players can draft a Commander deck by buying three Draft Boosters each, passing them about in a normal draft order fashion; picking 2 cards at a time, and then adding some lands at the end to create a 60-card deck. This should be a popular format to play amongst players who enjoy multiplayer Commander games.

The new product line for this set is as follows:

Commander Masters Collector Booster Packs and Displays. Commander Masters Collector Booster Boxes include 4 Collector Boosters. The Collector Boosters come with 15 Magic: The Gathering cards which include a foil-etched card, 5 Borderless cards (1 of which may be Textured Foil), an Extended-Art card of rarity rare or higher from one of the Commander Masters Commander Decks, a total of 9 to 11 Traditional Foil, and a traditional foil double-sided token. The possible Textured Foil Borderless card will come in 25% of packs. At least five cards in the pack will be of rarity rare or higher with 2 to 5 uncommons, 4 to 7 commons, and a land card also included.

Commander Masters Draft Booster Packs and Displays. Commander Masters Draft Boosters come with 20 cards and a double-sided token that are optimized for a multiplayer draft format. These boxes come in displays of 24 packs. Each Draft Booster has 2 to 4 cards of rarity Rare or higher (3: 36% chance; 4: 3% chance), 5 to 7 uncommon, and 11 to 12 common cards. Traditional Foil Borderless Mythic rare cards come in <1% of these boosters.

Commander Masters Set Booster Packs and Displays. The new Set Boosters will contain 15 Magic: The Gathering cards, an Art Card, and a token/ad card or a card from “The List” (found in 25% of packs). Packs include a combination of 2 to 6 cards of rarity rare or higher (2: 34% chance; 3: 48% chance; 4: 15% chance; 5: 2% chance; 6: <1% chance), 3 to 8 uncommons, 4 to 8 commons, and a land. Every pack will have at least one Traditional Foil card of any rarity. A Traditional Foil land replaces the land card in 20% of these boosters and a Foil-Stamped Signature art card replaces the art card in 10% of Set Boosters. A Traditional Foil Borderless Mythic Rare card can be pulled from 1% of boosters. Displays come with 24 packs.

Commander Masters Commander Decks. The Commander Masters Commander Decks include a 100-card ready-to-play decks that feature 98 non-foil Magic: The Gathering cards, 2 traditional foil Legendary cards, a foil-etched Display Commander, a two-card Collector Booster Sample Pack, 10 double-sided tokens, a Life Wheel, a strategy insert, a reference card, and a deck box. This set of Commander Decks introduces brand-new 10 Commander cards that are exclusive to these decks, initially. They come in case configurations of 4 decks per carton.
