The Eisner Award–winning superhero saga returns to Dark Horse
Dark Horse Books proudly presents the Black Hammer Library Edition Volume 3. This oversized hardcover collects issues of #1-12 of the Black Hammer Reborn comic series, featuring a story that picks up years after the previous Black Hammer series with a group of new artists. The book is written by New York Times bestselling author Jeff Lemire, illustrated by Caitlin Yarsky, Malachi Ward, and Matthew Sheean, colored by Dave Stewart and Malachi Ward, and lettered by Nate Piekos, with cover art by Dean Ormston.
Years after Black Hammer and the rest of Spiral City’s greatest heroes seemingly died defeating the cosmic despot known as Anti-God, Lucy Weber, the daughter of Black Hammer, took up his mantle and carried on the legacy of her father.
Years after that, Lucy, and the world, have moved on. Living in the suburbs of Spiral City, Lucy is married and has children. But all is not blissful. Her marriage is falling apart, her job has reached a dead end, and for mysterious reasons, she hasn’t picked up the hammer in years. But as her domestic life begins to crumble, the secrets of the last 20 years, and the reasons Lucy really gave up being Black Hammer, begin to resurface, threatening her family and the peace she has tried hard to find for herself.
This deluxe, oversized hardcover features a new cover, sketchbook extras, and more!
The Black Hammer Library Edition Volume 3 will be in bookstores October 10, 2023 and comic shops October 11, 2023. It is available for pre-order now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and at your local comic shop and bookstore and will retail for $49.99.
Praise for the Black Hammer series:
“I didn’t think something could be thrilling and sad at the same time but now there’s Black Hammer proving me wrong. Amazing, just flat-out amazing.”—Patton Oswalt
“Fantastic.”—Scott Snyder
“I don’t read many comics these days and I can’t remember the last time I read a superhero comic, but I’m loving BLACK HAMMER by Jeff Lemire, Dean Ormston, and Dave Stewart.”—Mike Mignola
“On my pull list by the time I got to page five.” —Mark Waid
“Black Hammer is the maddest, most brilliant comic I’ve read in years.”—Mark Millar
“Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer feels like it’s walking two roads—one honoring the past of superhero comics, and one forging a path into the future of the genre.”—Cullen Bunn
“Black Hammer feels like a superhero story through an X-Files lens; it’s strange and melancholy and real. The tale evokes an immense world filled with typically deep Lemire-ian themes of isolation, joy and simplicity. I can’t wait to see where he goes from here.”—Charles Soule
