Charm is in the air–celebrate with Pokémon GO’s Valentine’s Day 2023 event and Luvdisc Limited Research Day!

Are you ready for fun this Valentine’s Day? We have some sweet treats in store for you! Mega Gardevoir will make its Pokémon GO debut in Mega Raids, and, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Frillish and Shiny Tapu Lele—if you’re lucky!

Timed Research: Lovely Wishes
Trainers will be able to access branching Timed Research that grants their wish for a bonus that either awards extra XP for catching Pokémon, awards extra Candy for catching Pokémon, or increases the duration of Daily Adventure Incense.
The path you choose will determine which bonuses and tasks you have for the event!
No matter which wish you pick, all Trainers who complete the research will receive items and have the opportunity to encounter Frillish!
A Global Valentine’s Challenge!
Available from Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. PST to Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. PST.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, a global challenge will take place throughout the event! Work with other Trainers around the world by sending Gifts to your friends. If Trainers send enough Gifts, they’ll unlock a bonus for all Trainers for the remainder of the event!
Global Challenge Bonus: 3× Transfer Candy for the remainder of the event
Global Challenge Bonus: 2× Transfer Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and up for the remainder of the event
Global Challenge Goal: Send 100,000,000 Gifts
Form Change Available
For the duration of the Valentine’s Day event, you’ll be able to change your Natural Form Furfrou to Heart Trim Furfrou!
Follow these steps to change Furfrou’s Trim.
- Furfrou begins in its Natural Form.
- Select Furfrou in your Pokémon storage, and then tap the Change Form button to bring up a menu that lists the available Trims.
- Select your preferred Trim.
- Changing your Furfrou from one Trim to any other Trim will cost 25 Furfrou Candy and 10,000 Stardust.
Wild encounters
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.
Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Frillish—if you’re lucky!
Flabébé with differently colored flowers will be appearing in the wild depending on where you are in the world:
- Red Flower Flabébé: Appearing in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
- Blue Flower Flabébé: Appearing in the Asia-Pacific region
- Yellow Flower Flabébé: Appearing in the Americas
Some Trainers might even encounter White Flower Flabébé and Orange Flower Flabébé, no matter what region they’re in.
Eggs
The following Pokémon will hatch from 7 km Eggs.
Frillish hatched from these Eggs will also have a greater chance of being Shiny than Frillish found in the wild or through Field Research.
Raids
The following Pokémon will be appearing in raids.
Field Research tasks
Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available!
The following Pokémon will be available to encounter when you complete Field Research tasks!
Avatar items and stickers
The following new avatar items will be available to purchase in the in-game shop during this event and will continue to be available after the event ends!
You’ll be able to get event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.

Featured Pokémon
Limited Field Research tasks will be available when you spin Photo Discs at PokéStops. Complete them to encounter Luvdisc!
You’ll also have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Luvdisc!
