Asmodee studio Lookout Games has announced Caverna: Frantic Fiends, the second big expansion to Uwe Rosenberg’s award-winning game Caverna – The Cave Farmers, to be released February 24, 2023.
In Caverna: Frantic Fiends, orcs are invading and players have some choices; send their armed dwarves into battle, bribe the invaders to go elsewhere or build traps to keep the orcs from their cave entrances. Because it is a game, players gain rewards for success or suffer the fate of the orcs as the price of failure. They will need to discover a good strategy for this threat or struggle to survive.
This is the first big-box expansion in five years since the fan-written (but Uwe-approved) The Forgotten Folk (see “Caverna Adds New Species“).
The game box includes 60 cards, more than 150 markers, 1 multipart reward board, 4 orc event boards, 10 supply boards, 25 new furnishing tiles, 30 trap tiles and 1 rule book.
Caverna: Frantic Fiends is for 1 – 7 players, ages 12 and up, with an average play time of 90 minutes. MSRP is $40.00. As an expansion, it requires the base game to play.
