Yeah, I know this just came out in the past couple of weeks. Don’t care. It was still 2022 and I’ve been waiting for this TOO long!
And that’s not a Mezco jab, I’m talking about the mighty decades long need for a good 1/12 scale articulated action figure of The Crow. And I put all those qualifiers in there because there have been plastic representations of the characters over the years, but none tickled all of my fancies. Some moved but didn’t look great. Some looked great but couldn’t move.
I say I’m dead, and I move….
I said it in my video but it bears repeating….I love this movie. It’s one of the few flicks I saw in the theater four or five times. I haven’t even done that with a Star Wars film and if you know me that’s saying a lot. It released shortly after I graduated from high school so I was in that very odd time between kid and adult, when I was still trying to find myself. Not that I veered into full on goth but The Crow made a big impression. It hit at just the right time to lock into my brain differently than all the late 70s and 80s that was already crowding for space. And it’s stuck ever since.
So when Mezco solicited their One:12 Collective The Crow in the Fall of ’21 I was all over it. And now that I type that out, a little over a year wait for release isn’t THAT bad compared to some other pre-orders I have sitting. But that’s alright now, I have this in my collection and I couldn’t be happier.
Well, okay, the likeness could be better, but that’s expected with Mezco’s live action translations. Everything else is perfect. All the right accessories, each representing key moments. Nice softgoods that I’m not worried about messing up because that would just add to the torn and tattered visual. It carries itself like the character. I couldn’t be happier. Unless you wanna give me One:12 Top Dollar, Tin Tin, Fun Boy, T-Bird, and Skank…..
It’s so good that it made me buckle down and actually watch some tutorials on my video editing software so I could shoot some things I wanted to do with the figure. Hell, I’ve been using the program for years and just now finding out things I didn’t know it could do. All because of this figure. It’s crazy.
And yes, I ended up ordering a second. There’s too many options to display and too many ideas for tweaks and mods in my head. Don’t you dare judge me….
