Futuristic Megapowers Wage War in ‘Defcon’

New Area Control Wargame by Giochi United Headed to U.S. Retail

Asmodee will release Defcon, a new area control wargame by Giochi United, into U.S. retail on January 13, 2023.

In Defcon, players take control of one of four Megapowers who are competing to rule a dystopian future world. An arms race has begun, and players must try to gain as much Consensus as they can before the game ends. Consensus is a sum of their Megapowers’ military index and reputation index. The Megapower that can strike a good balance between their military power and public opinion will go on to win the game once it ends after the fifth round of play.

The game box comes with a game board, 8 Combat dice, 46 Action cards, 12 Sabotage tokens, 12 Radiation tokens, 12 Fortification tokens, 24 Missile tokens, 12 Conventional Missiles, 12 Nuclear Missiles, 4 Headquarters sheets, 100 Troop miniatures, 16 Fleet tokens, 16 Marker tokens, 4 Capital tokens, and 20 Territory tokens. This game is for two to four players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 60 minutes. It will retail for $44.95.

Asmodee will also release Pan’s Island, a new cooperative game by Matagot, into U.S. retail (see “Asmodee Will Release ‘Pan’s Island’“).
