Writer Ron Marz and artist Ron Lim are heading back to the cosmic Marvel Universe for a five-issue limited series, Warlock: Rebirth, set in Adam Warlock’s early days. Their series will bring a new character to the saga of Warlock, who was created to be the perfect human but must now contend with a new being who has even higher-level abilities. The first issue will be released on April 19 with a cover by Lim. The series is designed to be an accessible entry point for new readers as well as longtime fans.
Marz and Lim have just wrapped up their five-issue limited series Silver Surfer: Rebirth (see “Ron Marz and Ron Lim Come Back to ‘Silver Surfer’”). “The cosmic end of the Marvel Universe is a wonderful playground, and we’ve got some great toys, including Gamora and Pip and Doctor Strange,” Marz said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “There are definitely some sequel threads to what we did in Silver Surfer: Rebirth, but we’re making sure this Warlock series stands on its own. Who knows, maybe a shiny guy on a surfboard will show up too.”
For those who want a deeper dive into the character, Marvel will release the 900-page Adam Warlock Omnibus in April 2023 as well (see “Marvel Collects 1970s Adam Warlock Stories”).
Adam Warlock will make his live-action movie debut in Guardians of the Galaxy 3; he appears briefly in the official trailer (see “‘Guardians of the Galaxy’“).
