NBM’s lineup for spring-summer 2023 will include two graphic novels about musicians and one fantasy tale, as well as a new paperback edition of Hubert and Kerascoet’s Beauty. Here’s a look at the new titles:
Queen in Comics, by Emmanuel Marie and Sophie Blitman, tells the story and highlights the hits of the rock band Queen and its leader, Freddie Mercury. The 7.5” by 10”, 176-page, full color hardcover will go on sale in March 2023 in comic shops and May 2023 to the general trade, with an MSRP of $27.99. Blitman was also the artist for NBM’s Bob Marley in Comics (see “Rodin, Rastas, and a Road Trip”).
Darkly She Goes, by Hubert and Vincent Mallie, is a dark fantasy tale about a fallen night and acaptive princess that deals as much with inner monsters as the literal kind. The 9” by 12”, 160-page, full-color hardcover will go on sale in June 2023 with an MSRP of $29.99.
Mingus, by Squaz (Pascale Todisco) and Flavio Massarutto, is a graphic biography of the musician, composer, and bandleader Charlie Mingus, chronicling both his musical innovation and the toll that racism took on him over the years. The 7” by 10”, 160-page, full-color hardcover will go on sale in August 2023 with an MSRP of $29.99.
