Nintendo reveals Beginner’s Guide video to help fans prepare for the Splatoon x Pokémon Splatfest in Splatoon 3

Nintendo has announced the next Splatoon 3 Splatfest, which is themed after Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Read on below to learn more:

Grass-type. Fire-type. Water-type. Since 1998 (or 1996 depending on where you lived), this debate has perplexed our great philosophers. In the Pokémon™ series, players typically start their adventure by choosing a Pokémon with one of these types. Each has its own strengths, and each has its own weaknesses. (Like, they literally have strengths and weaknesses—it’s part of the game!)

But now we bring the question back to you. When choosing your partner Pokémon, which type would you choose: Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type? If you have thoughts on this subject, let’s settle it in a Splatfest*!

Splatoon x Pokémon Collaboration Splatfest

Yep, it’s true—the next Splatfest in the Splatoon™ 3 game is going to be a Splatoon x Pokémon collaboration. Splatfests are special, limited time events in Splatoon 3. The Splatsville hub area gets decorated in a fancy way, and players with any Nintendo Switch™ Online membership can choose to champion one of three causes. After you make your choice, you’ll participate in Splatfest Battles, where the goal is to ink as much of the stage as you can without getting splatted too often. At the end of the event, the winning side will be revealed, and in-game goodies will be handed out (with the winning side getting more, of course).

So, is the grass greener on your side? Does reading this make you all fired up? Do you want to splash cold water on your opponents’ hopes and dreams? Well, it might be time to start practicing. The Splatfest will take place: Friday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. to Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. PT. If you haven’t already, you can purchase the game using the link below.

Also, don’t forget that the latest entries in the Pokémon series—the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games—come out on November 18!

Good luck, everyone.
