Warlord Games is offering two starter sets for recreating battles from the American Civil War using its Black Power Epic Battles game system, along with two miniatures sets featuring cavalry and light units from that conflict, all set to release in December.
The decisive battle of Gettysburg is the focus of the Gettysburg Battle Set, which includes complete armies for both sides of the conflict with a total of 16 infantry regiments, two zouave regiments, two mounted and unmounted cavalry regiments, two skirmisher regiments, 16 cannon, and 16 mounted commanders plus the Black Powder rulebook, 36-page American Civil War booklet, flag sheets, snake fences, a farm building, and six dice. MSRP is $190.00.
The Guts & Glory starter set offers a slightly smaller starting point. It comes with six infantry regiments, a zouave regiment, mounted and unmounted cavalry regiment, a skirmisher regiment, six cannons, and six mounted commanders. Also included is the Black Powder rulebook and a 36-page booklet presenting the background of the American Civil War, scenarios, and supplemental rules. Rounding out the set is a Dutch-style barn, snake fences, flag sheets for both Union and Confederate forces, and a half-dozen 6-sided dice. MSRP is $120.00.
Additional forces can be added with two additional model kits, one for each side of the conflict:
The Confederate Cavalry & Zouaves Brigade kit combines a full regiment of Southern cavalry in both mounted and unmounted positions with a 100-man regiment of zouave light infantry and a regiment of skirmishers. MSRP is $42.50.
Representing the Northern side, the Union Cavalry & Zouaves Brigade mirrors the Confederate force with a regiment of mounted and unmounted cavalry, a 100-man zouaves regiment, and a skirmisher regiment. MSRP is $42.50.
