Baltimore Comic Con 2022 Announces its Panel Programming

The Baltimore Comic Con returns to the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor this October 28-30, 2022. Tickets are available now for General Admission, VIP, and Fan Packages. The Panel schedule is now set, and the convention has revealed what programming to look forward to at the show this year!

Friday features Jim Lee discussing storytelling and how he creates such dynamic imagery. Plus Tom King joins with Mike Grell to discuss the original DC 1st Issue Specials from the 1970s (that included the debut of Grell’s Warlord) while introducing Danger Street – a new incarnation of the characters from that classic anthology title. Plus, learn all about CEX Publishing, the newest comic company to be making waves in the industry.

You do not want to miss the spotlight panel with master storyteller Frank Miller on Saturday! But there’s lots more fun to be had with Disney’s Little Mermaid — Jodi Benson, and Pocahontas — Judy Kuhn giving Princesses a voice! Or you might even hear acclaimed actor/writer John Leguizamo talk about Bruno. Howard Chaykin steps into the spotlight; and creators celebrate the work of Tim Sale and George Perez. Plus, you can test your comic knowledge in a trivia challenge featuring Ron Marz.

Disney Princesses Jasmine – Linda Larkin and Belle – Paige O’Hara will make your Sunday more magical. You can learn how Jamar Nicholas went from creating independent comics to producing a new young adult graphic novel series for Scholastic Books. Also, Veronica Taylor – the voice of Ash from Pokemon and other characters – will be on hand to showcase her talents. Be sure to catch ‘em all!

And of course, don’t let your children miss the excitement scheduled for the Kids Love Comics Pavilion!

Join us as we dive into one of the most peculiar comic titles of the 70s and its legacy with creators who have inside knowledge of DC’s First Issue SpecialTom King will discuss his upcoming effort incorporating the various stand alone characters into the new Danger Street series, and will be joined by the legendary Mike Grell, whose Warlord first appeared in First Issue Special #8. Rounding out the panel is comics veteran Mike Gold, who knows what went down in those DC offices and is willing to share. PopCultureSquad’s Bob Harrison will host this one of a kind round table that is sure to be “Special”

4:00-4:45 – Frankenstein Mobster – The Audio Drama

Join Mark RedfieldJennifer Rouse, and Mark Wheatley as they share behind the scenes stories about how they turned Wheatley’s Frankenstein Mobster graphic novel into a full cast Monsterama Audio Drama also starring Daniel Roebuck and Debbie Rochon. Be there to experience exclusive previews of the audio drama!

Since the pandemic began, Mike Hawthorne (Wonder Woman: Evolution, Batman [DC], Deadpool [Marvel]) and Jamar Nicholas (LEON The Extraordinary [Scholastic Graphix]) collaborated on a podcast series where they answer questions from their Patreon supporters.

She became “Part of our World ” as the voice of Ariel. However, Jodi Benson is a true Disney Legend who has provided the voice to Barbie in the Pixar Toy Story films along with voices in Disney’s FlubberLady & the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure, and the Secret of the Wings. She also appeared in the live-action Disney film Enchanted and was the voice of Thumbelina in Bluth Studio’s animated film. Come discover all about the voice of a Disney Legend.

This is an interactive workshop where young artists will also get to create and draw their very own ideas on a 4-panel mini-comic page.

She helped guide us to “A Whole New World” as the voice of Jasmine in the original Disney film, Aladdin. But Linda Larkin has also appeared on television programs, live-action films, and voice overs in video games. Plus, she has supplied the voice of Jasmine in two follow-up films as well as the Princesses’ appearances in Ralph Breaks the Internet and the various television series of AladdinHercules, the House of Mouse, and Sofia the First – and was named a Disney Legend. Find out what’s new in her world now.

12:00-12:45 – Veronica Taylor (Ash Ketchum from Pokemon) Spotlight

We choose you, Veronica Taylor! Veronica is best known for playing the original Ash for the first eight seasons of Pokemon. However, she is also a classically trained actor and has performed all over the US. Additionally, she was April on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and has had roles in Yu-Gi-OhOne Piece, and many Nickelodeon shows. She has done voices for animation, video games, audiobooks, and more, and soon will appear in Franklin and Ghost! Make sure not to miss this panel with the legend, Veronica Taylor.

1:00-1:45 – Paige O’Hara (Belle) Spotlight

She showed us the heart of a Beast – and made reading cool again as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. With repeat performances as Belle in subsequent projects, she has become a true Disney Legend. However, Paige O’Hara has brought other voices to life in animated projects and brought her voice and skill to the stage in musicals such as Les MiserablesSouth Pacific, and Oklahoma. So be our guest and hear what this Legend is doing now.

11:00-11:45 – Draw The Shape, Not The Thing with Nick Davis

The secret to drawing is one simple thing: draw the shape, not draw the thing. Using a series of simple shapes, Nick Davis will show you how to draw Hero Ted, the super-heroic teddy bear who protects naptime from the monsters. You can follow along with Nick with the supplied worksheet and draw your very own superhero. Best superhero gets the Hero Ted demo art at the end of the session.

What if…? you could design a character using your favorite comic book heroes and villains? Here’s your chance to get creative and come design with JP Jackson Art.

Watch out! The aliens are invading! Artists of all ages are welcome to join cartoonist Dawn Griffin for this cosmically fun workshop. Using simple shapes and inspiration from animals, artists will create their own awesome aliens.

2:00-2:45 – How to Draw Cartoon Characters with Emilio Velez Jr.

Draw along with Dodgeball Teens creator Emilio Velez Jr. as he teaches artists of all ages how to draw their favorite cartoon characters from movies and television.

3:00-3:45 – Imagination Aquarium with Jamar Nicholas

Ever find yourself stuck for cartoon ideas? Put on your wetsuit and dive into the IMAGINATION AQUARIUM, where cartoonist Jamar Nicholas will help you catch ideas in your net and create awesome cartoons!
