Trick or Treat Studios revealed Shadowgate: The Living Castle, a new semi-cooperative board game that is currently on preorder for hobby retail.
Shadowgate: The Living Castle is an officially licensed board game that is based on the 1987 Apple Macintosh video game, which became widely popular via its Nintendo Entertainment System release in 1989 and later on through a 2014 remake. In this game, players explore Shadowgate, the Living Castle, looking for relics and spells. Players can choose from one of eight different characters to play as they go about completing legendary quests. They will also attempt to piece the fabled Staff of Ages back together in an effort to take on the Warlock Lord and the Behemoth.
The game box comes with a game board, 4 player mats, 9 Character tokens, 15 Magic tokens, 15 Trait tokens, 2 Lock tokens, 55 Item cards, 3 Staff Item cards, 10 Puzzle Item cards, 10 Djinn Riddle cards, a Djinn Token, 48 Quest cards, 7 Energy cards, 20 Death cards, a Torch marker, and 6 custom dice. This game is for two to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60 to 90 minutes. It will retail for $59.95.
Trick or Treat Studios will preview Knizia’s Nightmare Productions at Gen Con 2022 (see “Monster Movie Games“).
