The fairy tales and fables of yore weren’t the saccharine-sweet forms that we find them in these days. They were tales to teach people to be wary of the world in various ways. And it’s these original, much more harsh fables that inspired Twilight Fables, a new RPG supplement for D&D that’s up on Kickstarter now.
From the article:
The creatures that went bump in the night, and the stories told to our parents, grandparents, and ancestors about the supernatural world were not all fluffy, colorful, and had a happy ending. Historical folklore and fairy tales were often dark and deadly to the unwary or innocent.
Twilight Fables brings this lore and creatures from mythology and folklore into your 5e game. Included are more than 200 creatures, new options for PCs, dozens of magical artifacts, an adventure path campaign, and more!
Note: The original folklore was dark with mature themes and may include triggering subjects. Think more Brothers Grimm and less modern fairy tales. Reader discretion is advised.
The campaign’s about halfway to its goal with 29 days left to go.
