The selection panel has chosen the top 300 entries for the Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest 2022

The Pokémon Company has announced the Illustration Contest 2022 for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). Read on below to learn more:

Draw the daily life of a Pokémon for a chance to win cash prizes and have your art made into a Pokémon TCG promo card.

Artists who have dreamed of illustrating their very own Pokémon TCG card can now compete for the opportunity to make it happen. The Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest 2022 offers artists residing in Japan and the United States an opportunity to share their talent and passion for Pokémon by exploring the daily life of a Pokémon in art.

To participate, choose from eight different Pokémon, capture your chosen Pokémon living out a normal day in its life, and submit your artwork between October 13, 2021, at 8 p.m. and January 31, 2022, at 6:59 p.m. Each artist can submit up to three illustrations, either depicting the same Pokémon or different Pokémon from the approved list for each image. Winning artists will be announced in June 2022.

One overall artist will be chosen from the entire field. Winning artists will be announced in June 2022.

  • One Grand Prize Winner (JP or US contestant): $5,000 cash prize and TCG promo card
  • Two 1st Runner-Up selections (1 winner from JP, 1 winner from US): $3,000 cash prize and TCG promo card
  • Two 2nd Runner-Up selections (JP or US contestant) : $1,000 cash prize
  • 15 Judges Award selections (JP or US contestants): $500 cash prize

To be eligible to compete, artists must reside in Japan or the United States, be 18 years old or older, and be capable of communicating in English or Japanese. Review all contest rules and conditions before submitting artwork.

Pokémon Invites Fans to Illustrate an Official New Pokémon TCG Card

Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest to Open to US Trainers for the First Time

Bellevue, Wash.—September 15, 2021—Today, The Pokémon Company International and Creatures Inc. announced the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest 2022, a fan art contest inviting Trainers from the US and Japan to showcase their creative talents for a chance to be featured in an upcoming promo card for the globally popular Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG).

Following two similar fan art contests successfully hosted in Japan, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest 2022 will be open to US applicants for the first time. The announcement comes as the Pokémon brand continues its 25th anniversary celebrations and recognizes the many Trainers who have supported the Pokémon TCG throughout its long history.

“With this contest, Trainers will have the unique opportunity of having their Pokémon art be viewed all over the world,” said Barry Sams, vice president of the Pokémon TCG at The Pokémon Company International. “I continue to be in awe of the passion, creativity, and diversity of the Pokémon community, and expanding the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest to the US will offer exciting new perspectives of the Pokémon we know and love.”

Interested Trainers will be asked to capture “the daily life of Pokémon,” which is the official contest theme, and to choose from the following Pokémon as the focal point of their submission: Bulbasaur, Charizard, Pikachu, Arcanine, Galarian Rapidash, Scizor, Greninja, and Cramorant. Entries will be accepted beginning on October 13, 2021, through January 31, 2022, with winners announced in summer 2022.
