Van Ryder Teases ‘Keepers’

ICv2 got a peek at Van Ryder Games’ upcoming release Keepers, a family-friendly card game launching this summer, at the recent GAMA Expo.

In Keepers, players try to score points by matching picture cards in their hand with them words offered by that round’s “curator.”  The curator provides a single-word clue that cannot be a noun.  Each player then chooses the card from their hand that they feel best expresses that clue, or that is as opposite of that clue as possible.  Thus, if the clue were “dark,” a player might play a card with the moon to match it, or a card with the sun to reflect the opposite.

The played cards are mixed and set out, then the players vote on which cards they think make the best or worst match.  The cards with the most “best match” or “worst match” votes are declared “keepers,” and the players who played them score points.  After all players have had a turn as curator, the player with the most points wins the game.

Keepers is intended for 3 to 8 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $34.99.

Van Ryder and Lucky Duck are also teaming up for the cooperative supernatural mystery game The Dark Quarter (see “Van Ryder, Lucky Duck Partner for ‘Dark Quarter’”).
