Pokémon GO is being updated to a new version across all capable iOS and Android devices. The latest update is being rolled out to iOS and Android devices, respectively. According to patch notes from the development team at Niantic, the latest update implements various bug fixes and improvements for an overall smoother experience.

– The Season of Alola is here! More Pokémon originally found in the Alola region will start appearing on March 1, 2022

– The hearts needed to progress to the next Buddy Level will be displayed

Battling
- Fixed an issue where sometimes after forfeiting a Friend battle, a Trainer could no longer receive invitations to Friend battles
- Fixed an issue where sometimes opponent avatars or Pokémon from previous battles appeared in the current battle
- Fixed an issue where super effective Charged Attacks would sometimes not count for task completion
Quality of Life
- Gyms and PokéStops will now be visually different depending on whether you are within 40m, within 80m, or out of range of the location. This change is visual only and will not impact gameplay
- Recalibrated recommended Pokémon for a Raid to also take low HP into account
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where after an Egg hatched, on the Pokémon Storage screen Trainers were directed to, they could not long press to select multiple Pokémon at once
- Fixed an issue causing the Egg hatch animation to play incorrectly on some devices
- Fixed an issue where when an Event Pokémon is hatched from an Egg, the animation will not show the Event version
- Fixed an issue where some Trainers who had opted into receiving push notifications were not receiving them
- Mitigated an issue where the Pokéball Menu did not display for some Trainers on certain devices
- Fixed an issue where the dialogue for Professor Willow did not always automatically appear when new research was received
