DC is reinventing three of its less famous characters, Metamorpho, Starman, and Warlord, and sending them off into a sprawling new storyline in the 12-issue bi-monthly “maxiseries” Danger Street. In an attempt to gain membership in the Justice League, the three retro superheroes summon the supervillain Darkseid, planning to prove their worthiness by defeating him. This backfires spectacularly and leads into a complex crime drama with a cast of characters largely drawn from the 1970s-era DC 1st Issue Special series, updated and reimagined for this new story.
The creative team for the new series is writer Tom King, artist Jorge Fornes, and colorist Dave Stewart, who recently collaborated on Rorschach. The first issue will be released on May 3 and will have a main cover by Fornes, a variant cover by Steve Rude featuring Atlas, a 1-in-25 variant by Lee Weeks featuring The Creeper, Metamorpho, and The Warlord, and a 1-in-50 variant by Ben Oliver featuring Dr. Fate.
