Yesterday, we had the early news that DC’s next event is Dark Crisis. Now, we have the official announcement with more details as to what to expect.
Joshua Williamson and Daniel Sampere will team on the seven-issue event series. As we reported yesterday, a teaser issue will be available on Free Comic Book Day with a follow up one-shot, Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1, on sale May 31.
In Dark Crisis, Pariah, the lone sole survivor of his homeworld, is seeking vengeance and rebirth. Pariah has found a way to bring his homeworld and the entire infinite Multiverse back from the dead, Earth-0 must die. Pariah will wield an ancient destructive force called the Great Darkness to do it. The Great Darkness first appeared in Alan Moore and Stan Woch’s Swamp Thing. The heroes left behind in the DC universe must come together and save the lost Justice League. But, will everyone join the fight?
The monthly event is written by Williamson with art by Sampere, colors by Alejandro Sánchez, and lettering by Tom Napolitano.
Williamson in the reveal has said this event isn’t about reboots, retcons, or rewriting time and space. It’s about the characters and their relationships built over DC’s history.
Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1 will be available on May 31 and features Joshua Williamson, Dan Jurgens, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Clayton Henry, Emanuela Lupacchino, Stephanie Phillips, and more—showcasing what a world without the Justice League looks like to set the stage for the Dark Crisis event.
