I am not good at drawing. It would take me a drafting machine and a set of French curves to make a stick figure and it still wouldn’t look that great. But if i wanted to learn to draw trees, there’s a book for that up on Kickstarter. But seeing as this isn’t “Books on Drawing Trees News,” the campaign also contains an RPG called You Are a Tree.
From the campaign:
In 2021, I decided to teach myself to draw trees. Every month I had a page in Liverpool Arts Lab’s Bodge Magazine featuring that month’s tree picture.
Learning to Draw Trees will be a zine which brings together all 12 of those monthly trees, many of my intermediate sketches, and some advice and musings based on what I learned along the way.
I astounded myself with the progress I made over the course of the year. I hope that this zine will allow you to follow me along that enjoyable journey, and perhaps to learn to draw with me.
As a special bonus, the zine will a pull-out role-playing game where you get to play a tree: You Are a Tree by games designer Côme Martin.
Pledgers at the top tier will also receive a signed, limited-edition art print of the tree on the cover of the zine, a hawthorn
The campaign’s around 2x funded with 17 days left to go.
