Pretzel Games Announces ‘Yak’

Pretzel Games announced Yak, a new economy-building board game by Michael Luu, which will hit stores in 2022.

In Yak, players assume the roles of villager elders trying to build a stone tower to help guide merchants through the Himalayas. Players build their own stone tower by acquiring stones for foof from the merchants. The food and stones are hauled around the board by yak-drawn carts that players manipulate with cards played from their hand. However, players need to beware of the Fog stones which can come at any time. The Fog stones can reverse the direction of the carts by confusing the yaks. The game ends when one of the players builds a fourth level of their tower, and scoring is based on the types of stones used to build the tower and leftover food.

This game is for two to four players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 30 to 60 minutes. No word on MSRP at this time.

Pretzel Games released Camel Up: Off Season in summer 2021 (see “‘Camel Up: Off Season’“).
