Marvel Comics has announced an omnibus collection of the first stories featuring Miracleman, as it teases new stories featuring the character in the Marvel Universe.
The omnibus, planned for September, will collect material written by Alan Moore, whose name Marvel is not using in announcing the volume, presumably at his request. Other creators involved in the stories include Alan Davis, Garry Leach, John Totleben, and others.
The collection will include the following stories, along with covers, original artwork and rare features:
- Stories from Warrior (1982) #1-#18, #20-321
- Miracleman (1985) #1, #3, #6-#16
- Marvelman Special (1984) #1
- Material from A1 (1989) #1
- All-New Miracleman Annual (2014) #1
The omnibus will feature direct market-exclusive covers, two of which will be by Gary Leach and Kevin Nowlan. The main cover will be by Alan Davis.
Marvel also included a teaser in Timeless #1, released last week (see “Marvel Announces Eight New Tentpole Titles“), indicating that new stories featuring the character would have an impact on the Marvel universe. “How will Miracleman affect the future of the Marvel Universe,” the teaser asked.
Marvel acquired the rights to the character in 2009 (see “‘Marvelman’ to Marvel!“), and published mostly reprint material beginning in 2014.
