Old-School Armory RPG Supplement Up On Kickstarter

A character’s equipment can be just as much a part of the player’s vision for them as their class or ancestry. But if you’re having trouble figuring out just what they should have, you should check out Old-School Armory, a guide to help quick-start equipment on your character. The book is up on Kickstarter now.

From the campaign:

Old-School Armory is an OSR supplement designed for use with the Basic version of the original fantasy roleplaying game (the old-school version from the 1980s) and it is compatible with similar modern systems derived from those rules.

We’ve all been there. It’s Friday night. You’ve been waiting all week to game. You’ve checked with your players and they’re all on the way. It’s just a few minutes before the game starts and you’re in a panic scrambling to get a dungeon ready. When suddenly you get a phone call. It’s Sally. Her cousin wants to play, she says. Can they join in?

“Sure,” you answer.

And so you sit down across from this person you’ve never met before and start explaining how to roll attributes. “18 Strength! Wow! Lucky!” From there, you explain what the classes are and they make their pick. They fill in their hit points and come up with a name.

And then all of a sudden everything comes screeching to a halt. “Now you roll for your gold,” you say. “You need to pick out your equipment.”

They roll their dice (140 gold pieces) and you hand them the book, turned to the start of the equipment section. Their eyes glaze over as they stare into the abyss.

The campaign’s more than 7x funded with 27 days left to go.
