Video Games Come to Life in ‘Arcade World’ Graphic Novels

A new early middle grade graphic novel series is launching in January from the Simon & Schuster imprint Little Simon.

Arcade World, written by Nate Bitt with art by Glass House Graphics, is set in a town called Normal and follows two friends, Travis Better and Journey West, who spend a lot of time playing video games. In fact, they are the top scorers in the local arcade, Arcade World, where the games are all weird and obscure. When the games start to come to life, it’s up to Travis and Journey to use their video game knowledge and skills in the real world. Not only that, they also have to figure out who really owns Arcade World and whether the video game invasions are part of a larger, more sinister plan.

In the first volume, Dino Trouble, Travis and Journey contend with an invasion of dinosaurs, and in the second book, Zombie Invaders, it’s a plague of zombies. Little Simon will release both books on January 26 in two formats: hardcover, with an MSRP of $17.99, and paperback, with an MSRP of $9.99. The third volume, Robot Battle, is due out on May 17, and Vol. 4, Earth to Aliens, is slated for July 26. These two hardcovers have a higher MSRP of $19.99, but the paperbacks will still be $9.99. All four books are 144 pages long and are geared for kids ages 5 to 9. Source: ICv2
