It’s time to celebrate the power of light overcoming darkness with Pokémon GO‘s Festival of Lights. This special event will take place from Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time, and feature the Pokémon GO debut of Dedenne—plus tons more fun!
Dedenne, an Electric- and Fairy-type Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut during the Festival of Lights. This adorable little Pokémon was originally discovered in the Kalos region—and now you can add it to your Pokémon GO Pokédex!
The Season of Mischief will continue alongside the Festival of Lights event. If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, Misunderstood Mischief, you’ll gain access to an exclusive Special Research story about Hoopa. Forge a strong bond with Hoopa, and help Professor Willow explore the many mysteries of this mischievous Mythical Pokémon.
The Festival of Lights will also bring bonuses that can help strengthen your friendships and spread joy. Throughout the event, Friendship levels will increase twice as fast, Gifts will provide increased rewards, and you’ll be able to open up to 45 Gifts each day.
The Festival of Lights will also see the following Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild: Pikachu, Magnemite, Slugma, Whismur, Electrike, Blitzle, Cottonee, Tynamo, Fennekin, and Dedenne. You might even encounter a Darumaka or a Litwick. If you’re lucky, you might find a Shiny Pikachu, Magnemite, Whismur, Electrike, Blitzle, or Darumaka.
By completing Field Research tasks, you can earn an encounter with Pokémon such as Vulpix, Magnemite, Electabuzz, Magmar, Electrike, Blitzle, Darumaka, Litleo, and Dedenne. Lucky Trainers might even encounter a Shiny Vulpix, Magnemite, Electabuzz, Magmar, Electrike, Blitzle, or Darumaka.
There will be plenty of opportunities to take part in Raid Battles during the Festival of Lights. Look for the following Pokémon in raids:
- One-star raids – Charmander, Vulpix, Chinchou, Litwick, and Dedenne
- Three-star raids – Alolan Raichu, Electabuzz, Magmar, and Bellossom
- Five-star raids – Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion
- Mega Raids – Mega Manectric
Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion caught during this period will know Sacred Sword. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Charmander, Vulpix, Alolan Raichu, Electabuzz, Magmar, Chinchou, Mega Manectric, Cobalion, Terrakion, or Virizion.
For those who feel a bit Egg-citable, Vulpix, Alolan Geodude, Chinchou, Pichu, Elekid, Magby, and Budew will be hatching from 7 km Eggs throughout the event. You might even hatch a Shiny Vulpix, Alolan Geodude, Chinchou, Pichu, Elekid, Magby, or Budew.
But that’s not all! Visit the shop during the event for a Festival of Lights T-shirt avatar item available at no cost. You’ll also be able to light up your avatar with Dedenne-inspired avatar items. Snag Dedenne-inspired stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.
And don’t miss out on the Festival of Lights’ in-game fireworks display. You can enjoy this colorful show during the first few days of the event.

Visit the shop during the event for a free Festival of Lights T-shirt inspired by the celebrations in India. You’ll also be able to light up your Avatar with Dedenne-inspired avatar items.
During the event, you’ll be able to get Dedenne-inspired stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.
