One Piece Celebrating Episode 1,000 With November Film Screenings

Long-running manga and anime series One Piece will be celebrating its 1,000th episode with a two-night theatrical event screening the 2009 One Piece Film: Strong World for the first time in the United States, according to a release. The film will be screened with an English dub on November 7 and with subtitles on November 9 in selected theaters.

“We are thrilled to bring One Piece Film: Strong World for the first time ever to US theaters in celebration of One Piece’s 1,000th series episode,” said Masayuki Endo, president and CEO of Toei Animation Inc. “One Piece fans across the United States can now experience this original film by creator Eiichiro Oda as it was meant to be–on the big screen!”

Tickets can be found at Fathom Events and also at participating theater box offices. Moviegoers will also be able to see the stateside premiere of the One Piece: Mugiwara Chase featurette, a 2011-produced 30-minute showcase of what One Piece would look like if produced using CGI. All this should also help fans get further stoked for the long-awaited live-action adaptation of the series, which Netflix recently revealed has finished scripts for.

One Piece isn’t the only much-loved anime getting a live-action version from Netflix. The adaptation of the classic sci-fi adventure Cowboy Bebop releases on November 19–we’re yet to see a trailer, but the first Cowboy Bebop images were recently revealed.

Earlier in the pandemic, Toei Animation released a video featuring One Piece characters offering advice on how to stay safe.
