Just about all of us have played Snake (probably on our phones when we didn’t have much else to do for a while). But soon, you’ll be able to play the game with friends on your tabletop. Snake – The Board Game is like the phone game, but slowed down a bit, and brought to the real world. The game is up on Kickstarter now.

That is what makes Snake – The Board Game so different from every arcade, phone, and video-game version: because gameplay moves so much more slowly, it takes on a different character. Whereas every other version of Snake has challenged you to think and move as quickly as possible, to keep up with the animations as they get faster and faster, Snake – The Board Game asks you just how much of the board you can understand.
Slowing down doesn’t make this game slow, it unlocks a strategic, tactical side of Snake that you’ve never seen before. In Snake – The Board Game, you need to plan out every move, growing in a way that is going to block your opponent from doing the same.
