IDW Publishing and Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS) have announced an exclusive worldwide multi-year sales and distribution agreement for IDW’s newly published and backlist comic book periodicals, trade collections, and graphic novels to the Direct Market comic shops beginning June 1, 2022. The new agreement complements and expands their current partnership, in which PRHPS sells and distributes IDW’s tradebook frontlist and backlist to bookstores.

Penguin Random House recently opened a new distribution facility focused on the Direct Market supply chain. The facility, a one-million square-foot warehouse located in Hampstead, Maryland was opened in tandem with the company’s fulfillment headquarters in nearby Westminster.

Direct Market retailers will be able to order IDW products directly from PRH or through Diamond as a wholesaler under Diamond’s terms.

IDW is the latest publisher to sign with PRHPS. Marvel is the most high-profile announcing the shift in March of this year. IDW signed with PRHPS to handle the trade bookstore market in 2016 and began distribution in 2017.
